MEET DR. JUANITA
Dr. Juanita Britt McDonald is a Brain-Based Healing Strategist who equips individuals and organizations to understand how trauma impacts the brain and how intentional, brain-based practices create lasting healing, resilience, and transformation.
She is a nationally certified Comprehensive Victim Prevention Specialist, Counselor, Consultant, Author, and Trauma Advocate whose work is transforming how individuals, organizations, and communities understand the lasting impact of trauma on the brain, behavior, and everyday decision-making.
Her unique approach combines neuroscience, psychology, education, and practical application through Brain-Based Healing Pathways—an innovative framework designed to strengthen emotional regulation, improve learning retention, increase resilience, and empower healthier decision-making.
As the Founder and Executive Director of the Re-Discover ME Initiative, Dr. McDonald leads an organization committed to engaging, educating, and elevating trauma-impacted individuals through brain-based advocacy, prevention, and healing. Her work extends across educational institutions, healthcare systems, military communities, victim service organizations, workplaces, faith communities, and community partners, equipping professionals and survivors alike with practical tools that foster healing and lasting change.
Her work includes The Fearful Mother, Emotional Color Rainbow, Awakening Wholeness, The Mental Safety Plan Journal, and the Re-Discover ME Brain-Based Healing Pathways educational framework. She is also the creator of the Trigger Cloud, an innovative self-awareness and emotional regulation tool, and the designer of Brittany the Brain, the educational mascot that makes brain science approachable, memorable, and engaging for audiences of all ages.
Throughout every aspect of her work, Dr. McDonald is driven by one guiding belief:
When people understand what trauma does to the brain, they stop asking, "What's wrong with me?" and begin asking, "What happened to me—and how can I heal?"
Her mission is to replace shame with understanding, confusion with knowledge, and survival with transformation. Through education, advocacy, and compassionate leadership, she continues to be a leading voice in advancing brain-based trauma care, strengthening communities, and helping individuals rediscover the person they were created to be.
